Opposition team:
Bashers CC
Opposition score:
195/7 25 overs

Despite eventually losing the match this was a good performance from the D3 Hot Dogs.  They were hampered from the start by only having 8 available players.  Thankfully they were able to beg, borrow or steal an extra man in the guise of Faisal from the D1 squad (thanks Faisal!) and the Bashers were kind enough lend them a fielder, but they were still left with only 10 fielders on a blazing hot Shanghai morning.

Hot Dog captain Peter Roy won the toss and decided to let the Bashers bat first.  Star performer with the ball was Sunil Mandhania with three wickets, including a stunning delivery which clean bowled a batsman who was starting to look very dangerous early on.  Honourable mentions must also go to J Ge and debutant Wasay Mansoor for some good bowling.  Unfortunately the heat and the lack of 11 players took its toll and the Bashers finished on a colossal 195/7.

Chasing that total was always going to be tough but openers Peter and Dharmesh Chauhan set about the task eagerly.  Dharmesh was the highest scoring batsman for either side and was retired on 52.  At the half-way point the Hot Dogs batsmen had lost no wickets and were scoring at the required rate.  However soon after Peter was given out lbw for 42 and number 3 batsman Taylor Smith was took a ball on the elbow which looked very painful from the sideline!  The Bashers bowling attack also sharpened up and they bowled very few extras making it much harder for the Hot Dogs to score.  In the end the total was too big to chase down.

A disappointing result, but plenty of positives to take into next week's game versus the Devils...
