On a perfect day of cricket Hot Dogs batted first against Devils Dynamites. Hot Dogs were off to a steady start but with gradual loss of wickets soon the scoring rate came down. Hot Dogs struggled in initial 15 overs to put up only 55 on board for loss of 4 wickets. After the break Hot Dogs lost couple more wickets reducing score to 70 odd for 6 wickets in 20 odd overs. Just when situation was looking grim, Steve Levy(43 off 38 balls) took charge of the innings with good contributions from Rak Mistry and Hari to take the final score to a respectable 142 in 30 overs.

This score of 142 was -30 or -40 to a par score and Hot Dogs had to strike early to have chance in the match. Garlen did exactly that when he struck in his first over. Garlen was swinging the ball well & Karthik playing his last match of the season in Shanghai supported Garlen well but were not able to get further breakthroughs. Vikas then introduced Hari's spin earlier in the inning to change the pace of the innings. Hari bowled well & Dan in his first over took Rakesh's (47 of 33 balls) wicket to break a crucial partnership. Mandar and Rak were into attack before the drinks break but were not on target in their early overs. At drinks, 15 over mark Dynamites had raced to 95 for loss of  just 2 wickets. After break Mandar found his line and length and was swinging the ball heavily to put batsmen at sea. Mandar bolwed 6 overs on trot giving away just 14 runs for 1 wicket(out of 14 just 6 runs were of bat rest extras). There were plenty of LBW shouts but umpire gave just one LBW in our favor. But these close LBW calls added in building pressure. At other end Hari bowled tight overs and picked 2 wickets, Garlen and Rak kept things tight too. Hot Dogs did create some chances but few drop catches and run out misses had to be converted to defend the low total. In end Megh 33 not out steered his team to 5 wicket victory in 27th over. It was a good game of cricket and Hot Dogs can be proud of putting pressure and making heavy weather for Dynamites of the lowish 140 total.

As mentioned above if we convert the half chances that we created we then stand a good chance to defend even 140 odd totals in future games.Having said that let us hope to put a bigger total on board next time around.

Special Thanks to Karthick for his tremendous contribution to Hot Dogs cricket club. We will miss you Karthick!
